Appeal to International support

In the aftermath of the cyclone „Enawo“ asserted as a category 4-cyclone on the SAFFIRE-SIMPSON scale, the Government declared officially on March 14th, 2017 a national situation of emergency.  The urgent needs are too high in Madagascar to be dealt with by its own. That is why, national and international support and assistance has been launched.

The national Bureau for risk and disaster management (BNGRC) reported on March 17th, 2017:

  • 81 left dead
  • 433 612 affected people
  • 6 334 displaced
  • 40 520 houses destroyed
  • more than 1 800 classrooms damaged
  • 1 300 water points polluted
  • 104 damaged health centers
