Celebration of the week of the Francophonie – March 2017
This year again, the Centre Francais de Berlin welcomed the visitors of the sunshine day of Francophonie on April 1st with the presence of about thirty embassies and the French-speaking delegation of Berlin.
The 2017 edition was organized by the Embassy of Belgium, the Brussels Wallonia delegation and for the first time the Land of the Saarland, a bilingual Land.
Several programs have been proposed around the theme "Beyond Borders", namely creative workshops for children and young people, a debate organized by RFI, a diplomatic reception, country promotion booths, a world buffet awaited by all, finally a concert and a DJ party.
Madagascar, assuming the Presidency of the Francophonie, took part actively at this event. The Embassy of Madagascar held not only an information booth that attracted the interest of family children thanks to the miniature animals in raffia and mini-chocolates from the Chocolaterie Robert, but also a buffet with Malagasy delicacies much appreciated by the visitors. It has also made available to professionals, Madagascan tales dedicated to children.
In addition, during 2 weeks, the Embassy visited 4 classes of schools of approximately 120 to 170 students in total in order to introduce them the Francophonie and to make them aware of the cultural wealthiness, touristic and economic potentialities of our large island. Other professors have also expressed their interest to discover the assets of Madagascar by a french presentation at schools; the year 2017 is dedicated for the French language.
It should be noted that in 2016 the Embassies of Madagascar and France jointly presided over the Francophonie Day in Berlin and this opportunity enabled Madagascar to promote among 2500 visitors and 400 students all aspects of the country, both cultural, artistic, Culinary as well as economic and tourist.
