Visa Application
General Information:
Any foreign national who wishes to visit Madagascar has to obtain a visa and make all necessary steps at its diplomatic or consular representations abroad.

Types of visas:
Non-Immigrant Visa: short term visa, less than three months cannot be
transformed: tourism, conference, seminar, family events, sporting, cultural or
religious, medical, science, boater, filming, cruise, business, short-term training, courtesy visit.
Immigrant Visa: one month convertible into a long term visa: employees, religious,
sailors, family members, native (i.e foreigners born in Madagascar), students,
trainers, scientist, investors (individual or company)

Required Documents:
- Official Embassy form (2 copies) duly completed and signed personally by the applicant (same signature as in the passport). Download the form here
- Two recent identity photographs size 3 .5 cm x 4.5 cm. Photocopy or scanned photos are not accepted (two photos per child travelling with the passport of their parents)
- Copy of ticket or evidence of flight booking with travel details, issued by travel agency
- A valid passport, at least for six months

Visa Fees:
Pursuant to Order No. 2009-014 of December 31, 2009 related to the Finance Act 2010, the Embassy of the Republic of Madagascar implements the following new visa fees, valid as of 1 March 2010.
Types of Visa Visa fees
- Visa valid for stays not exceeding one month € 0.00
- Visa valid for stays exceeding one month and less than or equal to two months € 68.00
- Visa valid for stays over two months and less than or equal to three months € 96.00
- One month's visa convertible into a long stay visa (to be processed in Madagascar) or multiple entry

- Payment to be made at the Consulate where the visa application was submitted
- To apply by mail from within the Federal Republic of Germany, enclose a self addressed stamped envelope or registered for a return mail with processed passport and visa.
- To apply for a convertible visa for residents in Austria, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Sweden: payment of visa fees plus sum of five euros for a return mail with processed passport and visa (self addressed and stamped envelope from other countries is not accepted in Germany)
Notes:
- Please note that the delivery of a visa depends on documents issued and payment of the above fees. For any failure of these obligations, the application will be refused.
- The short stay visa is not convertible into long stay visa in Madagascar. The delay of delivery is seven days after receipt of the file to the Embassy.
- The Embassy reserves the right to call any applicant for a personal interview and additional information.
- The one-month visa convertible cannot be issued at the airport neither the port of disembarkation. This type of visa can be extended by the Police for a period not exceeding three months.
- The fact that a foreign marries with a person resident in Madagascar did not confer an automatic right to settle in the country beyond the period of stay granted. He needs to introduce a new application with indication of his marital status.

- Filing File: 9am to 12.30pm (Monday to Friday) except holidays
- Withdrawal of visa: 14h to 16h30
