The Chargé d’Affaires a.i, Mrs. Rafaramalala Florence Isabelle sp. Ratsimba welcomed the courtesy meeting with the new German Ambassador HEM Michael Derus, at the Embassy in Falkensee.
She also extended thanks to him for his visit and recalled the Malagasy culture of “Havatiana tsy mahalavi-tany”, “where parents live is never too far away”, after the week of the German Ambassadors’ Conference in Berlin from 26 to 29 August.

After congratulating the Ambassador on his new position and the presentation of his credentials to the President of the Republic, H.E. Andry Rajoelina on 9 August, three days after his arrival in Antananarivo, the discussion focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, visa facilitation in the context of cultural exchanges, strengthening German language learning, transparency of information on opportunities in Germany for young Malagasy interested in immigrating legally.

The Ambassador welcomed the IEM, Initiative for the Emergence of Madagascar, and stressed the importance of strengthening the private sector, the backbone of the country’s economy. In this context, Mrs. Chargé d’Affaires pleads for vocational training for young Malagasy people, “in close collaboration with the private sector”, emphasized the former.

The next step will be the preparatory work for bilateral consultations and both Missions can play an important role in optimizing cooperation and ensuring that mutual needs and interests are best addressed.
