The Malagasy delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs is participating in the 24th United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is being held from 3 to 14 December in Katowice. Some members of the Embassy of Madagascar in Berlin had the opportunity to discuss with the Minister.
This COP24 is essentially focused on two objectives:
- to bring to a successful conclusion the negotiations on the rules for the implementation of the Paris Agreement COP21
- to advance the renamed Talanoa Dialogue Facilitation Dialogue at COP23 to take over the ambition by 2020.
In the margins of the official negotiations, the subject of the “Katowice Action Plan for a Just Transition” was discussed. Representatives of Malagasy youth were able to widely disseminate their actions in Madagascar during the Summit to build a more just and sustainable world.
