On the invitation of Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture BMEL Julia Knöckner, the heads of diplomatic missions of the Embassies in Berlin, including the representative of the Embassy of Madagascar, attended the reception on 12 December at the Ministry.

This meeting was the opportunity for the Minister to announce the 11th Conference of Ministers of Agriculture in Berlin on 19 January 2019 as part of the World Food and Agriculture Forum GFFA, at the same time as the International Green Week Grüne Woche in Berlin from 18 to 27 January, the world’s largest agricultural and food exhibition for consumers.

The Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture stressed in her speech that the right to food for all requires coordinated agricultural policies at the international level. The GFFA is a platform for meetings and exchanges of about 70 to 80 ministers from around the world on issues related to agriculture and food security. The theme of the 2019 edition is “Agriculture goes digital – smart solutions for tomorrow’s agriculture”.

As such, Green Week provides a platform for discussion and sharing on the exciting future of the agricultural industry, including a digital barn, smart orchard technologies and smart packaging.  The culinary specialities of international exhibitors, including the Madagascar stand represented by Madaspice, which celebrates its 10th participation in 2019, will of course be highlighted.
