A “second” celebration of the 58th anniversary of the return of Independence was co-organized on Saturday, June 30th,  by the Embassy and the nationals, through the German-Malagasy friendship association, an invitation largely answered by the Malagasy and close friends.

The festive atmosphere of the cheerful event was highly appreciated by all : grills, different dishes and salads were served, accompanied by music and dancing, which lasted all afternoon until late at night.

The participation of all took different forms ranging from services to the visit of photo exhibition stands, as well as that of the background and history of the signing of the Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Trade between Germany and Madagascar. In addition to that, beautiful black and white photos exposed by Mr. and Mrs. Berndt Leideritz were also on exhibition.

After the national anthem, Madam Chargé d’Affaires ai gave a rallying speech praising the initiatives of the various actors in the economic, development and humanitarian fields and urging all stakeholders to offer solidarity hands to meet the immense needs of our fellow citizens in Madagascar, at all levels and at all scales.

It was pointed out that discussions and visits will take place during the next five months to gather and exchange ideas, and in particular to implement concrete actions.

The President of the Malagasy Association meanwhile, stressed the good relations between the nationals and the Embassy and calls for more cooperation in more areas than sport and culture.

Finally, the toast was raised for a good election and a better situation for the country, thanks to the goodwill, commitment and contribution of all.
